Back to Kona

(Petroglyph of a man or child)

By now it was around noon, and we headed back south towards Kona. We remarked how only a week before, we had driven up this road for the first time. It was a little sad to think we were having to leave. We took a last look at all the graffiti that people had created using the white rocks on top of the lava. We thought we spotted some new ones, too, probably created that very week.

We arrived in Kona and were pleasantly surprised to find that it was not nearly as crowded as it had been during the week. (We thought it would be worse on a weekend.) We easily found a parking space in the same lot we had used before.
