This is the first Christian church on the Hawaiian islands, built in 1820. The present incarnation of the church was built in 1836 with black stone from an abandoned heiau. It was mortered with white coral and topped by an impressive steeple.
Thursday evening we also attended a dinner that was hosted by the conference. The food was very good, much of it like the food we had tasted at the luau. The shrimp was especially fresh and tasty.
There was a band playing, and after awhile we attempted to dance. However, we had to try it barefoot and on grass. The music was too fast, and we found it difficult to dance the way we like to. So we went back to the room, because it was getting late anyway.
